The terms this is offered on.
Kept short so the parts that matter are visible. The three that matter most are the first three.

This is not counseling or therapy
After The Fall walks alongside churches and the people in them. We are not licensed mental health providers and nothing here is treatment. If what you are carrying needs a clinician, tell us and we will help you find one. If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
This is not legal advice
Nothing on this site is legal advice and we are not your lawyers. That includes anything we publish about reporting obligations, background checks or state law, which changes and varies by where you are. Read it as a prompt to go and check with your own attorney or your insurance carrier, never as a determination of what applies to you.
This is not a legally privileged channel
We treat what you send with care, and we do not share it. But we are not your lawyer and not your counselor, so nothing sent through this site carries legal privilege, and we may be required to act on or report certain disclosures. If you need a channel that is privileged, this is not it, and we will help you find one that is.
We are not an emergency service
This site is not monitored around the clock and we cannot intervene. If anyone is in danger, do not wait for us. Call emergency services. If a child is being harmed, contact the police or your local child protection agency; in the United States the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline is 1-800-422-4453.
Who this is written for
This site is written for adults, and the forms on it are meant to be used by adults. If you are under eighteen and something here has happened to you, please tell an adult you trust, or call the numbers above. We are not the right first step for you and we would rather say so than have you waiting on us.
Using the site
You are welcome to read, print and pass on anything published here, including with your leadership team or congregation, as long as it is not sold and it is not presented as somebody else’s work. Please do not use the forms to send anything unlawful, to impersonate somebody, or to make accusations you do not believe to be true. We may decline to reply, and may remove or refuse anything sent through the site.
Codes and links we send you
Some parts of this site are reached with a code or a link rather than a password: the reference code for a message sent without your name, an invitation to the practitioner survey, and the two links for the self-assessment. Treat them like a key. Anybody holding one can use it, and because we deliberately do not know who you are, we cannot tell whether the person using it is you.
That cuts both ways, and the second half is the one to know before you start. If you lose the reference code for an anonymous message, it is gone. There is no account to recover, no address to send it to and no way for us to work out which message was yours, so we cannot reconnect you to what you wrote or to anything we wrote back. Keep it somewhere you will still have it in a month.
What you send us
What you write stays yours. We use it to answer you and to do the work you are asking about. We do not publish it. If something you tell us would help other churches, we will ask you first, and anything we publish is stripped of anything that could identify a person or a congregation. How it is stored and how to have it deleted is set out in our privacy policy.
Links to other places
We link to research, hotlines and organizations we think are worth your time. We do not control them, we are not responsible for what they say or do, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.
No warranty, and the limit of what we owe
This site and everything on it is offered as it is. We work hard to be accurate and we cannot promise it is complete, current or right for your situation, and we cannot promise the site is always available. To the fullest extent the law allows, After The Fall is not liable for loss arising from your use of this site or from decisions made in reliance on it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Which law applies
After The Fall is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized in California, and these terms are governed by the law of the State of California.
Changes
If these change, the date at the top changes with them. If anything here is unclear, ask through Begin a conversation and a person will answer.
